    Hi.

I am trying to trace a film I saw probably in the 1970's.

From memory, it involved a quarry (or similar) in the USA, where one of the construction machines either hit a 'charged' crystal, or was affected by some cristal type thing from outer space. The machine, or machines in the quarry then come to life, and drive themselves, possibly chasing the quarry workers.

I think this would have been from the seventies, and I remember watching it on TV when i was young.

If it helps, the quarry seemed to be in a hot part of the US, and so the set was sunny, and the machines were open topped with no covered cabs.

i remember watching this as a teenager in the 70s when TV was full of American made-for-tv movies, and it was called Killdozer.

Here you go! Killdozer (1974) (TV)

Yep, sounds like Clint Walker's immortal Killdozer to me too.

"How do you go about killing a machine?"

"A machine? Well it's too heavy to hang and it's too big to put in a gas chamber."

This (and the "Baffled!" tv movie with Leonard Nimoy) is an old favorite.

Killdozer sounds right to me. There was also a bulldozer that came to life in Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive with Emilio Estevez.

Based on a story by Theodore Sturgeon, author of my favorite Star Trek episode, where Spock was in heat.

    top call!

The second I saw the screen shot from your youtube clip, I knew that was the film.

I would have been eight or nine when I saw this film, and remember coming into my living room while my parents had already started watching it.

To make things even more scary (to a nine year old anyway) one of the ploughs (shown in the clip at 1.55) had been left abandoned on a local bit of waste ground for many years! This added more scare value to it for a while after.

If any of you know the Bristol area, the pub called 'The plough' is actually named after this dumped earth scraper, despite having a pic of a traditional farm plough on its signage (The Plough, at Westons way, Kingswood. bristol)

I take you also like the film 'Shake hands with danger' too.

That is another blast from the past film, which i saw while in the army.

name='will.15']Based on a story by Theodore Sturgeon, author of my favorite Star Trek episode, where Spock was in heat.

Sturgeon's "Amok Time" was one of the very best. He also wrote the Trek episode "Shore Leave" which isn't as good, though I liked the scenes with Ruth and Finnegan.
