Possibly Stephen Poliakoff's Close My Eyes (1991) with Clive Owen and Alam Rickman
Hi All, I am trying to name a British film based on the London Stockmarket. The plot is based around a failing trading company. The once successful senior trader is having a breakdown and has turned to drink. Business has gone south and a new young Whizz kid trader is brought in. The later is very succesful, lives in a castle on the banks of the Thames, arivves at work in a small sea plane, drives a classic Mercedes. He takes the older trader under his wing and then sets about reviving the fortunes of the business. Can anyone help with the title and the names of the two main actors (both were British). I thought it was called "Trading Places" but every time I trace this I end up with the american comedy. Many thanks in anticipation. Robbie

This could be Dealers and the car was a Facel-Vega.

That's the one I was thinking of also, Derek Connor was the 'washed-out' dealer, the castle used was Leeds Castle in Kent.
A link to the Leeds Castle website.........

According to their web site Dealers was based at Knepp Castle in Sussex and made good use of the large lake there. Jonathan Creek also visited an outhouse on the estate for The Problems at Gallow Gate.
There's a footpath across the estate which goes past the lake. Ideal for a walk if you like Tamworth Pigs as they roam free on the estate.
Definitely Dealers. Spooky, 'cos I watched it again recently.
