Boy with Pony

Mrs Number 6 has asked me the name of the young actor and film she saw many years ago.....and I can't place either. Can anyone help please?



She says the story centred around a young boy who had befriended a wild pony on the moors and used to spend all his time with the pony. She seems to remember a scene where the young boy is, for some reason, upset and runs away from his home and across the moor to find his equine friend.



Does this ring any bells?
