Christmas movie

My husband has a memory of a Christmas film which he thought was Miracle on 34th Street, .. however, it isn't this film, but he recalls the films revolves in the belief of Santa Claus, and a broke family end up with some money falling from a mousehole or the like from the ceiling...he thinks it may be British?? Anyone out there recall this?

Sounds like it could be an American film, but it isn't very good. The Christmas Wish also known as the Great Rupert starring Jimmy Durante.
