Default Unanswered: Vampire film

Did I imagine this scene from an old, colour, vampire film ?

One of the vampires stakes themselves through the heart. I think the character
was a woman.

Any more clues?

The only scene that it vaguely reminds me is in John Badham's Dracula (1979), where Mina's staking (if I recall correctly) is a combination of her being staked and accidentally impaling herself.

I remember a European vampire film (possibly a Jess Franco or Paul Naschy 'epic') where one of the female undead does drive a stake through her own heart.

I don't know the answer but there is a site dedicated to just vampire movies, maybe one of them maybe on the list and ring a bell with you. Go to Vampire Films

The only extra info I can add is that it was a period film rather than a modern setting.

I am not vampire film expert although I have seen most of them, I was just trying to work out if it was real or not.

Many of Franco's and Naschy's films are set in period. The trouble is that there are dozens of them and they are all fairly interchangeable.

I don't think many vampire films have real vampires in them and they don't really put a stake through the actor's heart

I can't immediately recall any vampire suicides…
In Lust for a Vampire, Carmilla is accidentally staked by a falling beam, but one gets the sense she could have got out of the way if she'd wanted to, so perhaps…
Dracula's Daughter was shot with an arrow by her jealous manservant, but I'm not entirely convinced that would have worked.

How about in 'The Wisdom of Crocodiles'? Didn't that end with the Vampire seeing to it that he died?
