1980s BBC Documentary series about a retired soldier?

No - NOT Home from the Hill. (Though for some reason I think the series was called "Hilary" but that may be a false memory based on on Col. Hilary Hook of HFTH being a similar sort of character)
This was a series in which a fairly elderly retired amry officer tried his hand at various sporting and daredevil activities. All I really remember was a voiceover, or captions, at the start of each programme which said "meet Colonel XXXX YYYYY. (Brief outline of military careeer). Does not hunt, shoot or fish. Does everything else"
Any ideas?

As I think about this, I also recall the opening titles showing him marching through London in a suit and bowler hat, umbrella sloped on his shoulder, before turning and "aiming" the brolly at the camera.
