    Hi,

This is a very long shot as I can't recall if this was a film or multi-part TV drama and have very little plot information.

    What I can recall:

Beautiful dark haired young girl recruited to SOE, a lot of time seemed to be related to learning Morse Code and her trainer (who had a crush on her) saying she should not be sent as she was so good looking she would never be forgotten and would be a risk to her and her unit (I'm sure the script writer chose better words!).

Needless to say she gets sent over to France and eventually caught and tortured, her hair being cut short was focused on. I don't recall the ending but think she dies.

I can only think the film was loosely based in Noor Inayat Kahn but can't find any reference on-line.

My late 1970's dating is based on it being a 'grown-up' thing to watch so I must have been under 14 but older than 9 - I could be wrong! Sort of Jesus of Nazareth age Is suppose so 1977 a mid-date??

It definitely wasn't the 'wish me luck' serial and was in colour so ruling out the early SOE films being re-run, I have most of those.

The actress was indeed a beauty and the film made a lasting impression to a young boy but more than that I have no idea. Hope someone can help.

    Thanks
    Jonesy

    You're a Genius!!

This clip from you tube ( ) includes the "Get rid of her", "Why?", "Because she's too attractive, that's why, once seen she won't be forgotten; not the best qualification for a spy."

With it being Noor Inayat Kahn and the phrase above, which I recall, it has to be the right one. I also remember the water-boarding now.

More searches show it was aired Sunday 20th May to Tuesday 22nd May, 1979. I thought it would have been shown to finish on the Sunday but looking at programs like 'Waking the Dead', a Sunday start and weekday finish seems a tried and tested format.

    Many thanks

Now you mention the water boarding the

    Hi,

I haver replied to this twice but for some reason it's not been posted. It is definitely the same program confirmed by a clip on youtube of David Niven saying she was too attractive.

I'll not write more as my original response will probably find it's way here sometime - apart from a very big thank you!!

Thanks all, as a radio ham I use morse a lot so that site is very interesting, I should have found it myself

Morse code is still very much in use by radio amateurs, there is nothing more infuriating than watching a film and hearing morse code that has no meaning in the context of the film!

    Thanks all

It always makes me smile. What they're saying in effect is "You can speak now. I'm not listening"
