Ok basically, the film stars around a young woman who changes her ticket to get onto a farrey to try and solve a mystery. She meets an older woman and they both work together. The young woman meets a man who she first nurses him when's he's been attacked whilst on the boat and he comes to her room. He then saves her when someones tries to throw her over board.
When she gets off the farrery, she's kidnapped and held in a cell. She pulls the heal from her shoes and uses part of her broken heel to bash at the bars on the cell window and escapes. She then goes to the older woman' house and gets a note from the man she met on the boat to meet him in the woods. she goes into the windows, follows the path but ends up falling into the river. The man saves her and takes her to his house. He tells her that someone changed the path to kill her. They agree to work together.
Whilst she and the older woman are visiting someone, they are held at gun point whilst the bad guy who tells them what he did, why he did it and answered thier questions. he was one of the passengers from the farrery. The guy who the young woman is now working with, saves them and they end up getting married. The guys ends up being a detective.

I think the film is set in the early 1950's and i did think it was a catherine cooksons film but i've searched all of her film adaptations but none match. Its a colour film and the main actress has long brown curly hair. And i remember one specific qoute from the main villian/bady in the film: "You have really nice legs" he says that to the main female character after he asks her to come and work for him.
Please help! I've been dying to watch this film again!!! I really want to know thw title!
