hi,can anyone help with the title of this film please.

a good friend told me he watched this on tv one day when he was quite small,it was braodcast around 1980 but was definitely an old b/w ghost film.
the only part he can remember is the ending where a man walks into the water (river?) until all that is left is his hat floating on the surface.
the image disturbed him profoundly so maybe he blocked out the title and any other scenes. i would love to find out the name so i can get him a copy and haunt him with it... any suggestions from you film buffs please ?
looking forward to your suggestions, regards jeff

Though if he was left traumatised by the golf story (the bit of "light relief" in the whole of DON), heaven alone knows what "room for one more inside, Sir" will do to him, never mind the ventriloquist's dummy part...
    A brilliant film, though.

The best story is the 'Hide and Seek' tale with the reference to Constance Kent IMO
    I love Portmanteau Horror films!
