British TV: The Blob (in a supermarket!)

Hi, does anyone remember watching some version of 'The Blob' in the late 70's/ early 80's on British TV, a bit of a low budget British TV horror/drama thing with the blob 'running' amok in a supermarket. I only remember one particular shot - the blob ripping along through a long frozen freezer chest towards the camera... scared me silly aged 10 or whatever i was. never saw it again, and can't find anything anywhere. cheers.

Although the 'blob' is unseen in this, could it be the 'Special Offer' episode of Nigel Kneale's 'Beasts'?

Thanks for the Quatermass suggestion but i think it was definitely just a Blob-centric thing, if memory serves me right i think it was just about this damned blob going nuts in a supermarket!

Now then, Nigel Kneale's 'Beasts' - 'Special Offer', that could well be it! I can't visualise the blob itself just some entity ripping through the freezer... but i imagine yes it could have been just Pauline doing mind tricks on the frozen peas causing them to fly everywhere. Will deffo get and watch to find out. Many thanks!

Managed to have a quick look at Special Offer, skipped through to the event scenes, and i don't think it's that (although very close). There IS a freezer scene but it's just a small compartment on the back wall, first something is 'rummaging' along slowly underneath the frozen food and then the camera cuts back to show some peas flying out. I have an image ingrained in my brain of a long panning shot of a really long freezer on the left of the scene, camera tracking backwards while something is ripping along through it down the full length. This doesn't happen in Special Offer.

I must admit the scenes in Special Offer are very similar but they don't seem to have the gravitas of this one shot i remember, and i've always had a real blob and the title 'The Blob' as being the star of the show so to speak.

If i don't happen to find out what it REALLY was, i'll never believe that Special Offer was actually it!

What about the tv movie "Beware the blob" directed by Larry Hagman of Dallas fame, it has a scene not unlike what you mentioned.

The Blob is very American, I don't remember much of the sequel, though the other title is Son of the Blob. Tvhorror guy may just be right....

Sounds like the remake of The Blob, IIRC there's a supermarket scene in that one.
