This is an old B&W film about a young man from a very well to do family who loses his memory (following an accident I think) and is found and cared for by a kind woman (lower down the social scale) who he then marries and has a family with. Then following another accident he regains his memory and goes back to his original family ('like a bad penny') but forgets his wife and family. I think at the end they are reconciled. - Thanks Mandy

Could it be Random Harvest with Ronald Colman and Greer Garson?

    Random Harvest?

Apparently, fims about amnesia tend not to be scientifically accurate

When I was in hospital the ward had a small bookshelf library of about 50 books and I came across an addition of Random Harvest. A wonderful novel and the only book I've ever read in a Ronald Colman voice.
