Default Splink

Just watched SPLINK:

Nice outfit Jon.

Quite a lot of these PIFs are available, but Reginald Molehusband is still missing.

Default scary pub info film

Hi

When I was at school in the 70s we were shown a film about not talking to strangers. It worked. It was really creepy and symbolic. I still recall a young girl in a corner with a shadow falling arcross herwhile she sobbed.

It made the 'i am the spirt of water' etc look tame.

As I said it worked. It may of been a film by my local council rather then a goverment one but these films I think are needed NOW more then ever.

Esp condsidering the drink/poor diet culture we live in!

Question public info films

A good time for public info films was before GRANDSTAND used to start, and just after SWAP SHOP used to finish.

One that has not on the CHRALEY SAYS collection was a sweet one about living no litter at public sites- complete with stirring music.

Patrick Troughton and the late great Derek Guyler narrated many.

Can anyone remember the name of the old gent in the cartoons that promoted safe cycling during the '70's. The premise was that he was the safest cyclist in the world. Probably because he didn't appear to be going over 2 mph anywhere! He would end the film by tipping his hat to the audience. Any help would be appreciated.

The two really dire cycling safety films I recall are:

Pedal Safety Song
Think Bike – Jimmy Hill

Both 1978. If they are what you're looking for, I have them somewhere.

Many thanks for the reply Maturin (named after one of my all time fave fictional characters, maybe?). It definitely wouldn't be the Jimmy Hill and I can't remember there being a song so I don't think it's them. I'm really just after the old man's name as it's one of those things I've tried to recall for years (on and off).

Cartoon. Man in his Nineties -or just incredibly old. Big white moustache. Large flat cap. Bicycle clips. Possibly riding a penny farthing (not sure on that). Very slow and sure movements.

Thanks again.
