Default Time Lock

Just watched this tense film from 1957 (with young Sean Connery in a small part) about a kid locked in a bank vault and I was surpised to find that, although it's listed as a UK film, it was set in the US, or Canada.
I thought it was a film of about the same vintage with a similar plot but set in Britain.
It may very well be that I'm 'remembering' this film, but perhaps someone here knows of another kid-in-a bank-vault film?
Thanks
Richard

Not a kid in a vault, but Strongroom (with Derren Newbitt) has a similar fight against time to save two employees trapped in a bank vault.

Time Lock was originally a play by Arthur Hailey shown on Canadian TV in 1956. It also appeared on British TV.

Notice the helicopter which I think was a BEA one, with fake Canadian registration.

Good little film, I always liked Hailey. Did not think that any of his novels really were good on screen. Airport was a botch, Hotel was ok but nothing special.

ITV showed a version of the play in I think 1968 with John Carlisle as the father. Can't remember the rest of the cast.

Strongroom is a very good example of an excellent tense low budget b-movie from 1962. Hasn't been shown on TV for a number of years. The last time was on ITV when they use to show british b-movies at a ridiculous hour. The two people trapped in the Strongroom were played by Colin Gordon and the lovely Ann Lynn.

Yes they were very happy days. It's hardly worth watching TV now a-days because they never seem to show those kind of films anymore. It's no wonder I prefer to watch old films from my collection.

The plans you had to make to be able to stay awake at midnight to start watching some old B movie were awesome .... happy days indeed.

There's a good US one on tonight at about 1am .... Tom Conway in Atomic Submarine.

Not a film, but in the TV show Press Gang there was an episode where Lynda Day (Julia Sawalha) was locked in a bank vault. She had her mobile with her (despite it being first broadcast in 1993, they were always good with the latest technology). But the microphone part had been broken and she could make calls but not be heard at the other end. And her battery was running out.

What would you do?

Very true - but I did mean if you were there instead of her, not with her

If you totalled all our collections, this forum must be sitting on a million films or so
