Default The Squeeze *solved*

Hi! First time poster!
I saw a possibly early 1970s film on tv years ago. A young woman with a criminal or dodgy past is a nanny to a wealthy family. The child she is looking after is kidnapped (as is she). The kidnapper(s) recognize the nanny. In a scene which made an impact on me, she (ahem) disrobes (partially?) to a record played on a Dansette or similar. Quite a violent film I think.
Any ideas?

Could this be The Squeeze (1977)?

It is "THE SQUEEZE" 1977. The stripping nanny is in fact the childs mother played by the tragic Carol White. This film also has a young Freddie Star as the stars (Stacy Keach) comady foil. Its not a bad film written by the late Leon Griffiths the man who gave us "MINDER". And Keach has a very good stab at an English accent.

The Squeeze is a terrific thriller and Keach is excellent.

The song David Hemmings makes Carol White strip to is The Stylistics 'You Make Me Feel Brand New.'

Its a good film but quite odd to see Stacy Keach (aka mike hammer) in the role of a Notting Hill copper! Keach was re acquainted with the West London police some years later when he was busted at Heathrow Airport for trying to smuggle his personal supply of cocaine through customs ,allegedly inside a bottle of "old spice" after shave which should have opened up the possibilities of advertising contracts for Keach sniffing the product etc. I believe he spent several months in prison here in the UK for his folly.

IIRC he was locked up in Reading Gaol which prompted him to read lots of Oscar Wilde whilst in there.

Don't miss out on a chance to win a rare film in Bat-Quiz 13 closing date - 31/8/8.

Stephen Boyd is indeed in it and I think it was his last film appearance bar a West German produced horror flick, he died the next year of a heart attack in his mid forties. Its a great shame that he died so young especially as he his career was experiencing a revival and he was up for appearing in the film "The Wild Geese'

I didn't know Stephen Boyd was up for The Wild Geese.

IMDB says that Richard Harris turned down the Stacey Keach part in The Squeeze.

Euan Lloyd the producer of "THE WILD GEESE" wanted him to play the Jack Watson SM part. He liked the Belfast Irish Stephen Boyd spoke. The director picked Watson to take over on short notice after Boyd died. He had used Watson before as an SM in "THE DEVILS BRIGADE" 1968.

I'd never heard of this film, but after reading about it in this thread, it sounds like an excellent, hidden-gem!
