I believe it was 60's/70's film. Set in an Autralian Hospital with the title character in a coma, who could do things with his mind. Co starred an English actress as a nurse who works out that he is evil and tries to kill him.

Anyone help with the name of the film please?

You can find the DVD of Patrick in Poundland stores across the country for a mere £1.00 ,also worth noting is this DVD is a much longer print of the film released so far.

The basic plot sounds suspiciously like The Medusa Touch as well. I wonder if one "inspired" the other?

Do you mean Patrick inspired The Medusa Touch or the other way round?

The Medusa Touch was based on Peter Van Greenaway's novel of the same name which dates back to 1973. Great book. Check out Take The War To Washington.
