Default Answered: The Big Money *solved*

Hi. Trying to remember the name of this film. Family of crooks. Son steals a suitcase of money in a railway station by placing another suitcase over the top of it. Takes it home to his father who tells him it is counterfeit and not to spend it. Son decides to leave home with cash and spend it.

Anyone know the title?

Thanks

Foseco

This sounds like the Ian Carmichael vehicle THE BIG MONEY, where he played the hopeless son of a family of career criminals. Circa 1961 it was a Rank Organisation picture and was initially shelved after (I think) the head of production saw the finished film and deemed it too awful to be released.

For many years it remained forgotten, but has had a couple of TV screenings in recent years...

Yes, definitely 'Big Money' 1956. It has a very good cast Ian Carmichael, James Hayter, Kathleen Harrison, Belinda Lee, but in spite of this it a bit hard going. One or two good moments, particularly where he's dancing with all the loose change in his pockets.
