Default Answered: The Long Day's Dying *solved*

Hi I am hoping one of you amazing people out there can help me. About 30 years ago I remember watching a colour movie on TV based in France, I believe about a squad of British Paras/Commandos. The only scene I can remember with any clarity is that they get captured by German soldiers but while being escorted away from a Farmhouse, they are talking to themselves in their heads about what they can do and what they have to get away along the lines of..."I have a skewer in my right sleeve" so they duly escape. I think the film was made in the 60/70's and one of the Commandos reminded me of a young Edward Fox, but it wasn't him.
I would really like to track this film title done as I would like to watch it again.
Your help and efforts are greatly apprecaited in advance
Thanks.

Yes, brilliant movie!! I saw it when it was first released... I THOUGHT your avatar was from that film...but it's been almost 40 years since I saw it...

Probably the best of the "they-taught-me-to-kill-but-I don't-like-it" genre!

Sippog,

Thanks that's brilliant, you are spot on!. It looks like Alan Dobie was my young Edward Fox.

Mystery solved and thanks once again.

Phil thanks for your suggestion as well.
