Default Answered: Longshot, hippies and a fat woman, British one-off play

I remember watching this one off drama in the mid eighties when I was a kid but it wasn't a kids' programme. I remember a group of hippies lived in a large house near a boating lake, they hire an overweight woman, with dark hair and glasses called Jenny as a sort of homehelp/nanny. Jenny is quite shy and one scene that stands out is where they offer her a go of their bong and she refuses and they laugh at her. They jokingly call her "Slim Jen"

The ending is odd. Jenny and the children are in a rowing boat and Jenny has an asthma attack and it's implied that she and the kids drown.

This has been bothering me for ages so any help appreciated.

Also sorry if this has been asked before. I searched but could n't find

I recall this 'play for today' type drama, the fat lady was Annette Badland, who was in Bergerac for several years, it was set circa 1970, I recall the scene when the Baby's Mum goes off for the weekend and leaves it in the care of everyone else, baby is in the Boat, Asthma attack for Annette, boat capsizes and they all drown, but they're the only scenes I remember.....

Hippies hiring a nanny? They sound like very posh hippies

Last Day of Summer (1984) (TV)

It was a Channel 4 drama, carrying on their tradition at the time of such dramas as 'Walter', I think. The end scene with the nanny and the boy (he was a boy not a baby) in the boat was very disturbing, I may be wrong but I can't remember any other children in the boat. I thought the boy survived, the last scenes were of him swimming underwater trying to find the nanny, but mysteriously (considering her size and the close proximity of her fall) he couldn't.

And what's all this about me having me leg off?

I've just checked Handykins link and now remember the baby.

And what's all this about me having me leg off?
