It's not the 'Battle of the Bulge' or 'Castle Keep' because the film I'm thinking about was shot in black and white and it definitly included scenes about American acting as occupying force. I can't think of where I would have got Pier Angelli's name in 1978 unless I read the name off the a film credits. I didn't know until years later she was James Dean's girlfriend.
I'm beginning to think it's quite possible that I've confused her with another actress but looking at her body of work I just don't what of her films would appeal to a teenager. Last edited by winsfordtown; 05-06-2008 at 05:48 PM.. Reason: update |

This has got to be a real 'B' Movie because I've gone through the list below and not only does it not match with Pier Angeli is doesn't match with any on the list

I wouldn't rely on Wikipedia so much as the IMDb, which aims for completeness. And it's impossible to match Italy, WWII and Pier Angeli on her complete list of film credits there.
I dismissed THE DEVIL MAKES THREE because it is set after the war, and in Germany, and PA plays a lead role not a cameo. You could have got Pier Angeli's name off some film credits, just not the credits of the film you are thinkng of...? |

Yes, memory plays funny tricks on us at times. In this case he is either has the wrong name/actress or more likely is simply mixing-up two different films; it seems rather too much of a coincidence that (a dark-haired) Pier Angeli plays the exact same role as described in BULGE. Alas, I haven't seen the film recently enough to know if the "spraying" scene described is in it. It should also be noted that both it and THE VICTORS, another "possible" mentioned in this thread (but something I don't have any memory of having seen), exist in different versions, so it's always possible the "spraying" scene was cut thus making identification even more difficult.

The spraying scene was not titalating. The officer met the blonde girl when they liberated the city then lost touch with and a little found in a queue to fumigated and she was embarassed.
I also agree D Cairns that over the years I could have mixed films and names up. I certainly havent seen a picture of Pier Angeli with blonde hair. |
