Default British b-movie late 50s ?

Saw this probably late 50s - a British b-movie (I think) which I though was called 'Witness' or 'Eyewitness', but the only movie I can find with that title is the one starring Donald Sinden, which this definitely isn't.
The thing I remember is that the witness in question is a child who has seen a murder or robbery or whatever but has then gone missing. At one point the police think they see him in a darkened alleyway wearing a polo-neck jumper, so call out to him. When the figure turns around, it is a midget complete with moustache and smoking a cigar.
Anyone know it ?

There is a 1959 film called 'The Witness' about a ten-year-old boy who witnesses a crime of which his father is suspected, with Demot Walsh, Greta Gynt and Russell Napier. One of the Merton Park, Scotland Yard series.

Thanks Hugo - as I say I can't remember anything else about it but it seems likely this is the one. To think I was watching Greta Gynt movies when I was six !

Yes they were on police motorbikes. I think I'm right in saying that the 1970 film Eye Witness was filmed in Malta. I have the film on DVD but I haven't watched it for ages and ages. Must get to watch soon. I think the group Fairfield Parlour sing the theme song, they sang Bordeaux Rose from 1970 a great catchy pop song.

Thanks Doc but it was definitely around 1960-ish when I saw this at the Garston Empire, and it was a second feature with who knows what ? - my only excuse for not remembering more is that I was only about 5 or 6 at the time !
