We were ( and still are) also a BBC family - indeed so much so that I was prevented firstly from knowing that ITV existed, and then when i was old enough and learnt that it existed then prevented from watching it. I think Place to Hide must have been my first ( and one of only few thereafter) acts of treachery!

Default Trapeze series

I think I know this one. It was CIRCUS - from a book by Alastair MacLean, and starring Stelio Candelli - who also starred in the TV series VENDETTA way back in 1966. It was definitely in the kids' time slot you mentioned - and the great music was indeed a very 'western movie' type theme that also turned up occasionally up in TV advertisements at the time. I've never been abale to track down that musical theme - but can play it on the piano!!

Cheers

I think I know this one. The series was called CIRCUS - from a book by Alastair MacLean, and starred Stelio Candelli, who also starred in the TV series VENDETTA FROM 1966. It definitely showed in the kids' timeslot that you mention, and did indeed have a great 'western' sounding music theme, which I spent some time trying to track down without success.(That theme also occasionally turned up in TV advertisements of the time, leading me to believe that it might indeed be something from the like of the DeWolfe music catalogue. I can guarantee that it doesn't come from a spaghetti western movie). I can still pick the tune out on a piano!!

Oops - sorry for two similar posts. I didn't think the first one had registered.

That's a great update - thanks... Cannot find any mention of it on IMDB I'll keep digging further though as like many Italian actors, Candelli used lots of english aliases. Searching on 'circus' though hasn't thrown up much so far.

Have to have that music - the production and scoring values of it are too high for it not to be something known and generally available, especially as I've heard it numerous times in other contexts.

I reckon the only way you're going to identify this, is if you really do "Sing the feem toon", make a file of it, and post it on the web.

If I, or anyone else, recognises the melody, I'm sure we'll be able tell you the name.
