the movie is about a man who dates a younger girl who he breaks up with in his car she leaves he then feels sorry for her and as he steps out of his car (which has suicide doors) to call her back he is hit by a bus and becomes disabled and she looks after him being very visous about it.

The circumstances of the breakup and accident are fairly different in Bitter Moon but what happens after sounds just the same. You can tell Bitter Moon isn't 60s by the excellent use of George Michael on the soundtrack. Marvellous.

Yes sounds like Bitter Moon although I thought he ( played by Peter Coyote) was hit by a car. She was French. The film was largely in flashbacks with him in a wheelchair relating his story on a ship to the guy ( played by Hugh Grant in one of his better roles) who was one half of a couple ( the other was Kristin Scott Thomas) they had befriended. A great film made circa 1992 but with a bit of a 60s feel to the early part of the film.

In the 1977 film "the man who loved women" the lead character was knocked down by a car as he crossed the road to eye up a woman who had taken his fancy. But it sounds far more like Bitter Moon.

"I've agreed with you from the first about the danger. But now I think you are utterly mistaken".
