Default The Amazing Mr Blunden *solved*

Hi,

Would anyone know the the title of this 1970's children's film ? It may have been a 'television film'. It featured two or three children who went to live in an old delapidated house in the country which their parents were keen to fix up. Somehow they come into contact with the ghosts of two children who also used to live in the house (the reason that the house has been neglected). These children died because their predictably wicked stepmother or governess( can't remember which) deliberately exposed them to the elements so that they caught pneumonia. I believe the present-day children go back in time or something like that and save the ghost children from their stepmother/governess and butler. That's about all I can remember. I quite enjoyed it as a child and would like to obtain it somewhere for my daughter to watch. For all I know, it may have even been an American film with British actors but I vaguely remember that it may have come from either the BBC or ITV.

cheers

I would say that it is THE AMAZING MR BLUNDEN made in 1972
A mysterious, very old solicitor Mr. Blunden (Naismith) visits Mrs. Allen and her young children in her squalid Camden Town flat and makes her an offer she cannot refuse. The family become the housekeepers to a derelict country mansion in the charge of the solicitor.

One day the children meet the spirits of two other children who died in the mansion nearly a hundred years previously and start to look into the mystery surrounding a fire that destroyed the house and claimed the lives of the two children... but prior to the fire the house keeper (Diana Dors) trys to kill by exposing them to the elements by having their bedroom window open all night

if you can't find a copy on dvd P.M. me
all the best Chris B
P.S one of my favourite films
