Default help with film title

I wonder if anyone knows the title of a film that was done in the 40's maybe early 50's and had songs such as Annie Laurie, Loch Lomand. I saw the movie when I was a teen back in the late 50's. It's a black & white, British film (or at least there were British actors in it). I don't remember much of the plot except that it took place in Scotland, and the young girl that sang Annie Laurie, had a beautiful voice and sang the song standing on a bridge. I think she dies in the end. Sorry not much to go on. As I recall it was a romantic movie with many songs - not necessarily a musical though.

Please help. This is driving me crazy!

Could be Brigadoon

The Song Almost Like Being In Love goes

Maybe the sun gave me the pow'r,
For I could swim Loch Lomond and be home in half an hour.

The song Annie Laurie was actually sung by a young girl, so it was not just a sound track. I checked on movie "Annie Laurie", but there's no singing and I don't think the plot is right. Definitely not Brigadoon.

Period piece dresses from about the 1890's maybe. Slight bussel in back, pinafore type dresses. Men's suit with cravats and of course a kilt or two. But other than that sketchy memory....

Is there any place I can check online to help me figure this thing out?

Thanks for the responses. Keep digging.

Maybe Comin' Through the Rye? IMDB doesn't list any films from the right period featuring Annie Laurie but it might be a short (or just not have every song listed)

hmmm..not sure about Comin' Through the Rye. It could have been a movie about R. Burns. According to what I've read about the movie, though, it was mainly stills with a bit of music and action thrown in.

The movie plot was something about the Highlands, although I believe all the shots were done in a studio.

I'll keep looking. I think I've Googled just about everything, so it may not be find-able Just wish my 14 year old brain had been a bit more accurate. If anyone comes up with anything please let me know. Thanks
