Default film query!

Hello, i am very new here but come with a query about an old classic film and hope that somebody out there has an idea of the name of it!
The film is black and white probably from late 40's early 50's.
Its about a small steamboat and the crew who is always drunk, im not too sure who stars in it even? (eek!) Im sure it was about smugling beer maybe from Ireland and it is a mild comedy! I also think the name of the film was the name of the boat. Its the sort of film that Moore Marriott would have been in(but I dont think hes in it?)
Any help with this would be much appreciated
thanks nik

Whisky galore?
The Maggie?

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

The Maggie. I remember the boss of the shipping company was a robust American in the Broderick Crawford mode.

But they're delivering plumbing fixtures to a Scottish island, not smuggling whisky.

Helllo my dear boy,

I think the film to which you refer could be the "Vital Spark".
