Default Unanswered: Can anyone name this film?

I can remember watching a film at my local cinema in the mid to late 1950's,but just can't remember the name of the film nor any of the actors. There is precious little information to go on ,in fact the only thing that I do remember about the film was a scene where the two protagonists involved were swordfencing in what appeared to be a cottage in the woods,I think the swords were either foils or epees,in any case they seemed to be narrow blades. I do recall, however, that when the one guy runs the other guy through with the sword the "loser" slides down the wall and leaves a trail of blood on the wall as he slides to the ground.
The film must have been in colour as the blood was very vivid and I also seem to recall a wallpaper pattern. I don't know if the movie in question was British or American, but I have an idea that it might have been a British made film as it seemed to have an English Civil War feel about it,but,of course,I could well be mistaken. I must have been 8 or 10 years old when I went to see this film and I would love to know what the name of the film is. This particular movie poser has been bugging me for almost 50 years. The movie in question is not "The Moonraker" as I've seen it many times, nor is it "The Scarlet Blade",though both have English Civil War threads.
