Question Answered: short and curlies - short films shown on tv i think in the 80's

Does anyone else remember a set of films shown on tv about bizzare things such as a man that got stuck in his chair to then get thrown out by his wife coz she thaought he'd left, one where a man got his foot stuck in a hole that was slowly dragging him in and a tramp stole his shoe, one where a man had a zip down his body and when he finally unzipped it a new him stepped out and he left his old skin at the railway station. there were others but can't really remember them. if anyone does remember can you please let me know what they were called.
thanx everyone, Karen

I thought this thread was about the excellent short by Mike Leigh starring David Thewliss & Alison Steadman

The Short & Curlies (1987) (TV)

I think that Mike Leigh's short was chronologically the first produced. Its title was subsequently used as the covering name for the series of films that followed. Therefore the thread is inclusive of both.

Does anyone have any of these short and curlies ?? I remember some of them and they were brilliant. Did the Zip star Dennis Lawson ? I do have Out Of Town. I recall one where a young lad goes for tea at his girlfriends house and everyone there eats fish like seagulls, very weird.

I'm also trying to find out where I can see these - I remember the one where the man gets hit on the head with a radio controlled plane and gets his foot stuck in a hole. In the end he gets dragged down into the hole & a tramp comes along and steals his shoe from his foot tha's just sticking out of the mud! Hilarious! What was it called?

Thanks!

Is that the same series where a play was screened starring Daniel Massey and Jack Shepherd as a couple of inmates in an asylum who think they're ducks (or something like that) and another one with (I think) Daniel Peacock as a karate instructor in a room with a powercut, where all the students turn out to have learning difficulties or severe quadroplegia? I think there was a third one about a man with no legs trying to leave his wife in a bedroom in the dark whilst concealing a mistress in the wrdrobe..or something along those lines.

Anyway, the point is, I think I still have all these on tape...but I'd have to dig them out and look at them again.

No, I think these were from a trilogy of plays about disability by Peter Barnes.

That episode was Out of Town. Don't think it has ever been commercially released. I think one or two films out of the series are on this DVD:

Not a part of that Short & Curlies series, but one short film that I caught by accident being used as a filler between films on FilmFour and that I really liked was The Call (2005)

It's no longer available at the FilmFour site, but luckily I saved a copy and it's available here
