I've racked my brains (whats left of them) to try to remember the title of this recent film....
Its a British film made in the last few years, about a famous "hangman".
I think the title maybe his surname.........
I think it covers period 40's-mid 60's??
Film came out within last five years.........
Cheers

Pierrepoint released in the US as The Last Hangman. Not something I expected to enjoy but really gripping stuff.

That's the American title for Pierrepoint, bought it myself from Play.com for around a fiver, I enjoyed the film as a period piece, but not the subject matter, it's very authentic, and both Timothy Spall and Juliet Stephenson are excellent as usual.

Yes I'm the same Mark, I'm not in favour of the death penalty (yes I know, I know)..but I've heard its an excellent film......
I recently enjoyed "Vera Drake" and know this is set in a similar time......
Will see if its available on Amazon........
Cheers

I don't think it's really a film which would give much pleasure to supporters of the death penalty

I agree captain, excellent performances especially from Tim....

IIRC Sid Dernley lived near me in Mansfield, he assisted Pierrepoint and had a collection of hangmans memorabilia in the cellar of one of his homes...

The only problem with having an open mind is that others keep trying to put things in it...
