Default Unanswered: Nasty Ventriloquist's Dummy

I'm trying to track down a television episode that features a scary ventriloquist's dummy. Specifically, there's a scene where this full size dummy is seen sitting by itself. And then it suddenly stands up and walks away.

It's not the 1945 DEAD OF NIGHT, or the 1964 DEVIL DOLL - or the TWILIGHT ZONE or ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS episodes.

Anyone any ideas?

I haven't seen it for a while but it sounds like it could be the Viktoria episode from the 1977 BBC series Supernatural.

Default Nasty Ventriloquist's Dummy

Nope - not SUPERNATURAL

And yes, specifically a ventriloquist's dummy (full size) - seen slumped (or propped up in a chair), and which (in the final moment of the drama), suddenly stands up and walks o.s

There's a few possibilities here. Any idea of the date or whether it was British or American?

Default Giving dummies a bad name

Isn't it time someone made a film where the ventriloquist dummy comes to life but doesn't turn out to be a homicidal maniac ? How about one where the dummy becomes a valuable member of society, holding down a worthwhile job on a regular basis, or joins the police force ?

Just a thought...............

Normally, they tend to work either in politics or choose a clerical career ...

In Follow Me Quietly the police are searching for a serial killer who only strikes in the rain. To help them with their investigation they get someone to create a life size dummy to represent how witnessess describe the killer. In one scene a detective sits in the dark talking to the dummy. After the cop leaves, the 'dummy' get up and walks out of the room. It was the killer pretending to be the dummy.

From 'Arbogast on Film' ....

"FOLLOW ME QUIETLY (1949) is one of those brisk, dark little crime films that Richard Fleischer did so well towards the start of his long career, before his work for Walt Disney elevated him to larger scales and bigger canvases. As with THE CLAY PIGEON (1949), in which a war vet awakens from a coma to learn he's being courtmartialed, or THE NARROW MARGIN (1952), which enacts a protect-the-witness scenario aboard a moving train, FOLLOW ME QUIETLY has its own gimmick: police detectives hunting a hectoring, letter-writing serial killer calling himself "The Judge" construct a lifelike simulacrum of the murderer complete but for the one piece of information they lack... his face.

All of the scenes involving the faceless mannequin have an undeniably eerie quality."

"Aha Mr Aubergine ... that's where you're wrong!"
