Default Unanswered: TV play competition?

I vaguely recall a TV series where film students or members of the public in

general were in competition to "Put On" a play for TV. I distinctly remember one

offering where a young fellow wrote & produced a play about a Time Machine.

The story involved some archeologists who found a modern shoe print next to a

dinosaur fossil. One of the scientists went back in time to investigate it where he

was killed along with a dinosaur during an earthquake & it was his shoe print

that was uncovered.!! I remember that the young writer was

was quite taken aback when the judges were critical of his effort.

Tell me I'm not dreaming this someone.

You are not dreaming about the competitions the BBC held to write TV drama. They did happen, certainly in the 1980s. Harry's Kingdom (1987) was a winning entry, for example, although that is not the one you have recalled. I can't help with any of the other detail I'm afraid.

The one I'm thinking of was shown in the late 60's or early 70's. They were

very short plays ( 15 minutes maybe) & the actors were amateurs. The one I

recall only had a few scenes & the sets were very basic. It might just be my

mind playing tricks on me.
