About an ex-criminal who protested about the system in many ways, on a couple of occassions he smeared his cell walls with his own s***. It was based on fact and i think the prisioner later wrote books. I need to know his name, I do know its not Mcvicar with Roger Daltrey.Grateful for any help.

Could this be the British TV film "A Sense Of Freedom", based on Jimmy Boyle's autobiography? I have vague memories of it, though. It aired in the mid-Eighties, I think.

Ken Hughes' *In The Nick* (1960) was based on the writings of ex-con Frank Norman who wrote several books and the play *'Fings ain't what they used to be."

In the Name of the Father was based on Gerry Conlon's autobiographical book.

May well be SILENT SCREAM, which starred Iain Glenn as Larry Winters, jailed for murder and who went on to write about his experiences. Harrowing but very powerful film.

Hi yes it appears that who ever stated this was sense of freedom was exactly right and stands correct, The Life and Times of Jimmy Boyle a Glasgow gangster who and where no prison could hold him! Yes i have a brilliant copy of this film including the documentary from the man himself Jimmy Boyle (RARE)

Sense of Freedom was originally made for Scottish Television but George Harrison's HandMade Films later bought the Home Video rights to it as well as giving it a limited theatrical release in New York - at least according to David Hayman who I was lucky enough to interview a couple of years ago.

Call me Mr Picky, but the worst thing about the film was the fact that during the 1960s scenes they used vehicles that weren't around until the 1970s, like Mk 3 Ford Cortinas! Such things spoil a film and you immediately think that if they can't get some simple like that right then how accurate is the rest of it?

"...the chairman of Littlewoods stores made a Keynote speech!"
