Answered: Three Cases of Murder *solved*
I'm trying to find out the name of a film I saw many years ago. It was a black & white British film, probably made in the 1940s or early 50s, and it had a creepy, 'Dead of Night' feel to it. As far as I remember it was several short stories, and the one that sticks in my mind involved a picture of a house in an art gallery or museum. People would come into the gallery, sit on a seat facing the painting, and would find themselves sitting next to a man (I think he was played by a Welsh actor, possibly Mervyn Johns) who would talk to them about the picture, telling them to look closer. They would find themselves being drawn closer to the house in the picture until they found themselves inside the house. Once they were inside the house they were trapped there. I can't remember the exact plot, but every time someone was drawn into the picture a light would appear in one of the windows. Does anyone know what this film is?
