The film sticks in my mind. It concerns two children, a jewish girl and a catholic boy, who form a friendship. Their parents are suitably aghast. the kids decide to escape down the local river on a homemade raft. The river is essentially a stream through some english city. They have sandwiches and a pith helmet that they have bought at a 2nd hand store. The raft sinks, the kids are saved, all ends well. the film is told in flashback from the moment that the two half-drowned kids are fished out of the river.

Very 50's, b/w, I remember nothing more about this film. I saw it once about 30 years ago on the telly. It stays with me.
