Default Answered: The Fallen Idol *solved*

I saw a black/white movie on TV many years ago about a little boy who's father was away on I think diplomatic business. He was playing in a planter box at the side of a staircase, and witnessed an argument that resulted in a woman falling to her death. He was not supposed to play in the box, so at first he didn't tell what he saw. I believe someone was accused of murder.
Later, he tried to tell, but was brushed aside.

It sounds a lot like THE WINDOW (1949) starring Bobby Driscoll as a little boy who is always telling tall stories. One day, he witnesses a real murder, but when he tries to tell his parents and the police about it, no one will believe him...no one that is, except the murderer, who is out to silence the boy at all costs. Bobby Driscoll, then ten years old, won an Academy Award for his performance in this American film.

Yes, THE FALLEN IDOL would fit better with the servants being in it. It starred Ralph Richardson with young Bobby Henrey as the boy. That was in the days when a boy actor usually had a name like Bobby or Billy or Tommy...or anything with a "y" on the end. It would also have been around 1949 as well. Bobby Henrey...whatever happened to him, I wonder.
