Ironic little indie film from the 60's. Apologise if this is OT because the film could also be American or Foreign . . .

A young man threatens suicide by jumping from a building 'live' on film. A reporter makes a documentary about it. When the time comes, they tussle and the reporter gets thrown off by mistake. The young man is horrified and flees.

One word title in Greek or Latin - ie. like 'Sardonicus'or 'Tacitus' or . . .

Ring any bells?

I think the film you have in mind is HEROSTRATUS (UK 1967), but hardly a "little" indie film as it lasts for 142 minutes.

That's the one! Thanks. I'm sure you're right about its length - I have only the haziest memories of it.

You mean you've actually seen it? Bugger me with an intravenous drip. I've been searching for it for years, as have Marc Morris and a few of me other mates.

Anyone know where it can be located?

The BFI is the rightsholder of Don Levy's Herostratus. We're hoping to include it in the BFI Mediatheque in the not too distant future. The film intriguingly boasts appearances from both Helen Mirren and Malclm Muggeridge...
