British film I saw about ten years ago, about a young boy, aged about ten, who was obsessed with knitting needles and the thought of stabbing people in the eye with a knitting needle.
It was set IIRC in the 1950's or 1960's and he lived in a house with his mother near a cemetry that he used to play in.
ISTR that in the end, he did stab someone in the eye with a knitting needle.
Yes, all very bizarre sounding, and no, I haven't been at the LSD....
Both myself and my other half both thought it was a very weird film; very Peeping Tom-esque, and in a similar vein to Peeping Tom, not outrageously violent , but not an easy film to watch.
Any ideas??

Oddly, this sounds more like an episode of ATV's series Thriller, from the mid-seventies. It would have been re-run on Bravo in the mid nineties.

I have a weird memory of hiding behind my hands when I was a nipper during the Diana Dors episode where, as I recall, a knitting needle meets an eye.

Yeach!

The 60s setting, local graveyard and Peeping Tom reference make me pretty sure it's Afraid of the Dark.

It was based on Henry James' The Turn of the Screw which has been shot many times for television. (and of course Jack Clayton's The Innocents)
