I've received the following query:

"I am hoping you can help me identify a long lost favorite British film of this era (50/60s). The film was a drama centering on a female social worker who worked with orphans and her romance with a tv/radio repair-man. I don't have any more info about this black and white film.

"If you can help me identify this film it will be the end of a long search for me. Thank you very much."

Can anyone help?

This sounds like A CRY FROM THE STREETS made in 1958 with Barbara Murray and Max Bygraves. I remember seeing it on Channel 4 late 80s/early 90s.

Thanks. That sounds like it. The only other film that came to mind about social workers was I BELIEVE IN YOU (1952) but I don't recall any TV repairman in that.
