Not much to go on however.............

It's a B&W black comedy (60's!! maybe far earlier)about a family who are called together after the death
of a wealthy member of their family. By video the old man tells them all that they are all entitled to some of his estate
as long as they all complete various tasks he sets them, One lady I believe has to get married, or is it a chap?
One guy needs to spend a certain number of days in prison and has to insult the judge when he sentances
him to too few days. The irony is that when all the tasks are completed they are assembled again only to
be told; again through video, that the old man died flat broke.

I'm sure I didn't dream it (if I did I'll never be able to sell the idea now!!!)

Please help it's driving me bananas.

Thanks

Jon

jonjamjad, I think you are confusing LAUGHTER IN PARADISE (made in 1951 in black and white) with the 1969 Technicolor remake entitled SOME WILL SOME WON'T. It was the remake that featured the video reading of the will, not the original, in which a lawyer read out the will to the assembled relatives.

Hi,
Sounds like 'Laughter in Paradise' (1951),
Best,
Chas

It sounds more like "Some Will,Some Won't",an inferior remake made in 1969. I believe Wilfred Brambell played the jokester who left an empty will.
It starred Ronnie Corbett,Thora Hird,Michael Hordern,Leslie Phillips,Barbera Murray,James Robertson Justice,Dennis Price,Eleanor Summerfield and Arthur Lowe. It was written by Lew Schwartz,a television writer who was also a later contestant for Countdown.
