Default Unanswered: The Lost Continent *solved*

I recall seeing a film at least once on ITV in the late 70's (late at night on a Friday) in which the descendents of pirates have remained at sea robbing various ships through the centuries. It is set in the modern day (looked like it was shot in the late 1960s or early 70s) and follows the misfortunes of a group who are captured by the pirates. I recall the cast as being British but it may ahve been a European co-production. The pirates used large flat shoes to cross water. None of the pirates had the pointy ears you would expect from some such a close nit community.

It sounds more like Hammers "THE LOST CONTINENT" 1968. The pirates had large flat like shoes but also balloons to hold them up. Micheal Carreras directed Eric Porter, Nigel Stock, Jimmy Handley and of course Micheal Ripper. The great English stuntman Alf Joint had a speaking part but ended up shoot by a flare from a very-pistol in a life-boat if my memory serves me well.

I know The Island, that was 1980 and not the film. The lost Continent sounds exactly like it, I can also remember the use of balloons. Cheers Hackett.
