I'm not sure if it was the Berlin wall or the border between East and West Germany. One of the main characters was a young girl. At the end someone crossed 'no man's land' between the fences. The explosions and gunfire actually looked more like a firework display, lending a sort of fantasy to the climax.

I thought David Warner or Frank Finlay was in it. But I can't find anything on IMDB.

I do remember the movie was not well received but I liked it.

The Spy Who Came in from the Cold ends with Burton's 'girlfriend' being shot as they cross the wall from East to West by night.

Thanks DB7 but the one I'm after is much more recent. Maybe 80s?

Possibly WALL OF TYRANNY (aka Freedom Fighter) a quite dire tv movie made in 1988 with David MacCallum and David Robb. A lot of it was actually filmed in Bradford, West Yorks, where the 'Little Germany' area stood in for West Berlin and the concrete block university buildings were East Berlin. The special effects were quite basic.

Could be...though neither of those titles means a thing to me. I've looked them up and I certainly don't recall Tony Danza. I think I'd have refused to have watched!!!

There doesn't seem to be a 'little girl' though. I can only find two actresses named and neither seems young enough.
