BEN, a Sky channel, broadcasts classic (meaning old) films during the night all unprogrammed i.e. just generic "classic film" in the schedule, no titles. My video just missed the opening credits last night of a David Niven film in which he played an illusionist "Arturo". Made in USA, I think, although references to money were £sd. Before I settle down to watch it, what is its title? I have a great respect for the vast knowledge some of you possess and I am hoping for a few backround details to add to my enjoyment.

It sounds like ETERNALLY YOURS (US 1939) in which Niven starred with Loretta Young, Broderick Crawford, Billie Burke and Herman the Rabbit.
David Shipman says it is a dire assembly-line assembly of marital misunderstandings. Halliwell is kinder calling it a slightly scatty romantic comedy, amiable if not quite able to stand the test of time, but with a great cast.
I also occassionally watch 'mystery' films on BEN, the main problem is the picture and sound quality which is terrible, they seem like third generation VHS tapes.

Yes it was pretty dire, and the quality even came with a film break! The actors match so it was Eternally Yours, put this one as solved and thanks Hugo.
