I saw a movie about a young girl obsessed with football who eventually becomes a sportscaster. It came to New York as part of a festival of movies sponsored by (possibly) D. Attenborough. Does anyoe remember this one?

    Thanks.

Hi Araven, this sounds a bit like "THE GLORY GLORY DAYS" 1984. It was made by Channel 4 and Goldcrest. Strangely I watched it last week on Film On 4 a satellite channel here in England. The story is about four girls following Tottenham Hotspur's Championship and FA Cup winning Season 1960-61. The hero of the piece is Julie who idolize's the captain of Spurs Danny Blanchflower. Blanchflower appears as himself later in life as a football writer. He meets Julie who wants to be a sports journalist and listens to her adventures of that year through flashback during a car journey. I enjoyed it but then as a life long Spurs fan I would.

Actually made by David Puttnam, another lifelong Spurs supporter.

please help with this film i've been trying to find out the name of this film for years but i can't remember much about it. Right here goes all I can remember is a young girl getting into the changing room of some football team. She finds the chewing gum of her favourite player stuck to the side off a sink and starts chewing it. I think it may be a 70's film but not sure at all.

    Thanx in advance.

Probably Those Glory, Glory Days. About the most articulate of all footballers - the irreplaceable, incomparable Danny Blanchflower.

The Glory Glory Days was a made for TV film by David Puttnam, about one of the first if not the first female football reporters, Julie Welch. It tells the story of the Spurs double team of 1960/61 through her eyes. Wonderful film. Recently shown on Film 4

Who sadly died alone and broke.

I used to employ a guy in London who was a Grainer. He used to play for Spurs in the 50s.

He told me he used to get six pound a week in the season and five pound a week off season
