Can anyone help. Remember seeing a (short) film a long time ago about 2 cars coming head to head down a lane, not being able to pass each other. Seem to remember one was a RR and the other a standard family jobbie. Believe the story centred on class conflict with neither driver willing to reverse. Bit like the John Cleese/Ronney Corbet sketch of years ago. The simple story built on this theme. Could have been Ronny Barker or Terry Thomas, may even have had Eric Sykes. Was very funny if I recall correctly.

    Any ideas out there?

This was one segment of the portmanteau UK film, 'The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins', directed by Graham Stark in 1971, which had a short comedy sketch to illustrate each of the sins

This one was 'Pride' and the two drivers were Ian Carmichael and Alfie Bass. It was written by Alan Simpson and Ray Galton and was originally used in their second Comedy Playhouse series for BBC TV and was here remade for the cinema with a different cast. I do not remember this segment being released separately as a short but it may well have been.

As has been mentioned one of the "Comedy Playhouse" series from Galton & Simpson "Impasse" (1963) starring Bernard Cribbins and Leslie Phillips.

    Hi,

I remember watching one afternoon, a good few years ago, a british comedy starring, I think, Leslie Philips.

I`m sure the plot had something to do with a "diet" which he was promoting although he himself didnt practice what he preached.

At one point in the film I`m sure he ended up in a shower, fully dressed, scoffing a roast chicken (or something similar).

I`ve tried going through his filmography on imdb but without success.

    Any ideas.

Could it be Crooks Anonymous (1962)?

    Found it.

Its actually the "Gluttony" story from "The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins" and it was a duck not a chicken!!!

Guess I should have persevered a little more before posting. Apologies.

Ah yes of course I thought of CA because of the "treatment" centre run by Wilf Hyde-White.
