Hi, so pleased I found this site,

I have being tryng to locate a film I saw in the 50's but as I was young then I am not certain it was a UK film (it may have been USA) If it was not Uk I am sorry about this.

Basically it was a film about a guy that every time he put his hand in his trouser pocket, there was money in there. I think in the end he changed the suit thinking it was the suit, until money appeared from his new trousers.

I would really be so pleased if anyone could assist

    Thank you

I don't remember the film though. Could it be 'The Man who Could Work Miracles'?

    Many thanks for the reply.

I have searched for the film you have suggested and read a few reviews. Its looks a pretty good film, (in fact i am going to buy it ) but unfortunately that is not the one.

I agree it wasn't THE MAN WHO COULD WORK MIRACLES and the only light I can throw on this is I know the film was British and a b-movie as it involved pound notes. (I never saw it and I remember my brother coming home and telling me about it - including the ending which I won't discuss here.) No point in calling him to see if he remembers as nowadays he doesn't even remember his name!

I believe we've had this before and it was an episode from a 50s/60s US tv show; maybe one segment of a three-parter.

Yes - I felt that as well, but couldn't define anything which could find it via a threads search...

I'm pretty sure it was Douglas Fairbanks Jr Presents.

The only one that fits the bill is Priceless Pocket, part of The Triangle (1953), starring James Hayter and Wilfred Hyde-White.

Thank you very much, I am 100% certain you are correct. However it seems that these films have not been put on DVD or video

Little off topic maybe, but can anyone suggest a way forward.

    Thank you

The only other clue I can find is that the series was apparently known in the US as Rheingold Theatre. I did an e-bay search but this didn't come up with anything.

I Remember seeing this as a child in the early 70's and of course being enthralled at the thought of having a pound note in my pocket every time I put my hand in...but I cant remember how it ended...I just know it ended up as some sort of curse....can anyone remember how it ended?

Someone advised me that 35mm film copies of this series sometimes crop up on ebay.

I can tell you how it ended

    (SPOILER FOLLOWS)

After some negotaition with authorities, the man agrees to sell his trousers to the government as they recognize that he could be forced into making money and upet the country economy.

He goes out and buys a new pair of trousers - puts them on and .....

the first time he puts his hand in his pocket out comes a £1 note!

But I still can't remember the title...........

I think I can help a bit, it was one of a series of O'Henry stories, an American writer I think, but I saw it on T.V. in London a long time ago. Great story as I remember. Good luck

Here's an exerpt from a posting on Mausoleum Club from the British Film Institute's Dick Fiddy, who mentions Douglas Fairbanks Presents as an episode was shown recently at one of their Missing Believed Wiped events:

The DouglasFairbanks Presents series all exists in the US and many episodes are available on DVD over there (not bootleg exactly but released via the 'public domain' laws which do not apply in the UK). Because of the complicated rights situation that still exists over here with many 1950s filmed series, shows like this rarely surface in the UK and I thought it was worth showing simply because of this PLUS the fact that it didn't survive in the ABC library in the UK.
