sounds like Alan Clarke's Road made in 1987
Looking for a TV play from the 70's or 80's about two soul boys in a northern town. One scene shows them standing face to face and downing a bottle of wine, then listening, eyes closed to an old soul record (possibly 'Try A Little Tenderness'). Can anyone tell me the title, and, or the writer? Please, this has bugged me for years and no one I know believes me!

It's Northern Soul for sure, around the Wigan/Manchester Area. I once had the record but I am damned if I can remember who it was by, but it's def Northern Soul, probably worth a mint now.
