Kind Hearts and Coronets *solved*

I'm trying to track down a film I saw as a kid.



The movie was set in Medieval England where the "hero" is 26th in line to the throne and progressively kills off all the others so he can inherit. Can't remember much else except he ends up in goal and writes his memoirs and maybe the love interest saves him at the last minute.

Are you getting your historical periods mixed up? Do you mean Kind Hearts and Coronets? If so, it definitely isn't a Grade-B film. It is a classic!

Don't recognize that one. I recall it being in color and he dispatches the first victim via a hunting accident

Does sound like "Kind Hearts and Coronets" to me too as there is a hunting 'Accident' the love interest does save him from prison and he does write it all down and foolishly leaves the Diary inside the prison
