Title of Children's TV series

My Freind was asking me if I can find out the title of a children's TV series he remembers watching back in the early 1970's, it was something to do with Aliens and a black and white dog called 'Mister', he said that he thinks that it was shown first on Blue Peter then was made into a proper series. Anyone any ideas what this is?

The aliens series shown on Blue Peter was Bleep and Booster but I don't remember a dog. There was always a story in the annual.

I have just found out what the series was called by looking on M.J.Simpson's British Fantasy Timeline, it was called 'Man Dog' made in 1972 and shown on the BBC in 6 parts.
