I would like to ask if anyone could name a film that I have not seen for quite a while, but used to get shown regularly on TV in the 80's.
The film is about a gang who engage in a robbery of a bank vault by digging a tunnel from a nearby underground sewer during a bank holiday weekend. The gang encounter poisonous gas and a flash flood in the sewer which results in one of the robbers being trapped in a partially flooded bank vault.
The film's location for the bank was in Blackfriars in the City of London.
In my opinion the film would of been made around the same time as "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square", the late 70's early 80's.
Any ideas?

Thanks DB7 for the answer. Bravo.
The plot sounds a lot like The Day They Robbed The Bank OF England !
Could be
STRONGROOM
PICCADILLY THIRD STOP
COMPELLED
All B/W films from around 1960...
Many thanks for all the replies. I will check out all the films suggested and see what is available on DVD.
I see Loophole is available through Amazon.co.uk from the US at a very reasonable price from Moviemars, however there are two available releases -
A 2007 copy by Macworks, run time 105 mins, and is selling for £1.57 + £1.24 P+P.
There is an earlier 2005 version by Direct Source, run time 103 mins, for slightly more at £1.97 plus the £1.24 postage.
It seems that the 2007 DVD is the one to go for, but is there any difference in the quality of the film print between these DVDs?

I bought the Mac one via Amazon a couple of weeks ago. Quality seems fine to me, though I've obviously not seen the earlier one to make a judgement.
Really enjoyed this film!
