Skipper - I have a distinct mental image of Mills dressed as a young Catholic priest, but I can't get any further. A short search on the net has got me nowhere.
I am trying to find the name of an old British film. I think it starred John Mills (???) and it's about a priest who was wrongly accused of murder (or framed) and goes on the run to clear his name. While running across the moors (?) he comes across a gypsy woman who helps him after proving to her he was a real priest by reciting to her the marriage/death (?) service. B&W film. Thanks.

Thanks very much, Andy. It must be one of those films that have not been repeated as often.
You are not getting Millsy as a priest in Singer Not the Song mxed up with Mr Denning Drives North in which he meets a gyspy woman in the countryside while involved in a murder are you?

It sounds like a combination of The Singer, Not the Song - where John Mills plays a priest, Sky West and Crooked - which has a gypsy woman in it and The October Man - where he's on the run accused of murder
Or maybe it didn't have John Mills in it?
Steve
IMHO a much better Mills/Bogarde film is "The Gentle Gunman"- despite the dodgy accents !
The Singer not the Song
Originally supposed to be directed by Ken Annakin with Marlon Brando and Peter Finch...
Just a thought. Are you sure it's not "The Ghost Camera"? John Mills plays a wanted man, running across the moors and hiding in a derelict building....... I'm not altogether sure about a gypsy woman, but some of the plot sounds similar.
The Ghost Camera (1933)
John Mills is questionable as seen from my original question. It might not be him. The remainder of the plot is correct though. I have looked at all the titles suggested but none of them is the film. I'll keep an eye out anyway. Thanks to all who reposnded.
