Default Unanswered: filmed on upper street, islington

hello everyone,

one of my friends called me yesterday asking if I knew the title of a film he remembers seeing on tv some time ago...
it's a b/w british film he thinks was released in the 40's with at least some of the action set in a shop on upper street in Islington. He remembers it as being a comedy-drama in the Ealing mould, but has no idea about actors, director, producer etc. Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received!!

Cheers!
Andy

Hello Andy, welcome to the BritMovie forum.
The trouble is that there used to be a film studio in Islington so any films that wanted a quick exterior could well have nipped out to film on Upper Street or anywhere else in the vicinity. Without some more information it might be hard to pin it down

That studio was on the corner of Essex Rd and Packington St.
I lived in Islington for over fifty years until I retired out to the sticks.
Of course Gainsborough studios was just a short walk away down by the Regents canal.

Aitch,
